About this event
Dates: Thursday, February 25th - Friday, February 26th, 2021
Time: 12:00 pm-5:00 pm EDT on each day
Details:
Trauma knows no boundaries of nationality, gender, age, social class, or race. We all live in a fallen world and groan inwardly from the painful consequences of the fall. The Church is uniquely called to this mission field - it provides a theology for suffering, a community bound together in love, access to a God who is willing to hear our honest laments, and a Savior who knows what unjust suffering feels like and whose death on the cross heals the broken-hearted and forgives their sins.
In this training, participants will gain the competencies needed to lead Healing Groups. Certification as a trauma healing facilitator is based on demonstrated skills in the five core competencies: able to facilitate in a participatory way, able to work on a team, able to help traumatized people, knowledge of the materials, and able to manage personal well-being. While certification is not a guarantee, most people will gain valuable skills in trauma care for both themselves and others through attending this training.
Participants in this training typically are provisionally certified for 2 years, during which time they have the opportunity to complete at least 2 practice healing groups of their own before completing the training for permanent certification.
Necessary qualifications:
- Participation in a healing group in the United States, where the core lessons of Healing the Wounds of Trauma were completed within the past 4-6 months
- Able to attend each day of the training (certificates will only be granted to those who do so)
- Fluent in English
- At least 18 years old
- Committed to help trauma survivors and able to dedicate ~2 weeks per year to trauma healing
- Able to teach others, manage own well-being, work on a team, and learn to lead groups in a participatory way
- It is suggested, but not required, that you attend the training with someone else from your organization, church, or area with whom you could co-lead healing groups in the future (if certified)
